A Letter To Our Community from House of Chikankari

To

The HOC Community

As we touch our pen to paper, we want to express our gratitude to the community that has stood with us since our inception. Grappled with the implications of the Covid-19 pandemic in the fall of 2020, a table talk between a mother and a daughter gave rise to a wishful longing to create a deeper impact on our country’s craftsmen. Innumerable sleepless nights and an expedition to Lucknow later, House of Chikankari was born - to ensure the talent and expertise of Indian artisans, the heritage and the craftsmanship is cherished by all.

Chikankari, a craft style believed to be as old as 3rd Century BC, is an art form that showcases the intricacy of hand embroidery. The embroidery pattern is usually done by a thick white cotton thread on soft cotton fabrics. Comfortable, elegant and filled with history, Chikankari Kurtas are a classic heart warmer.

On completing almost a year of building a brand that’s close to our hearts but closer to our roots, we’d like to stop a moment and take a look back on our journey that commenced with a mother cascading her love for Chikankari to her daughter, who, with the right vision and a passion, has been able to bring together a fusion of elegance and comfort, making India’s heritage crafts an affordable luxury that every household cherishes.

Moving forward, our aim is to stay more committed towards bridging the gap between Indian handicrafts and you, bringing to you the best of Chikankari, handcrafted with love. The letter, as much as our business, would be incomplete without the presence of the skilled artisans and karigars, our team and the constant love and support that you shower upon us. We look forward to re-instilling the pride of the artisans in their exquisite craftsmanship and sustaining it for generations to come through our insatiable love for Chikankari.

Love,

House of Chikankari
