ABOUT US
The Journey of House of Chikankari
In the challenging lockdown of 2020, a heartfelt conversation between Poonam and Aakriti Rawal sparked the creation of the House of Chikankari. Driven by a vision to uplift India’s artisans and preserve the traditional craftsmanship of Lucknow, we began as a modest venture with two passionate individuals juggling multiple roles. Despite early challenges, perseverance turned obstacles into opportunities, transforming the dream into a meaningful reality.
Organizing the Unorganized: Bridging the Gap
The Indian crafts market has long been fragmented and plagued by authenticity issues. House of Chikankari addresses these gaps by directly partnering with artisan clusters to ensure quality, authenticity, and fair practices. Once limited to older generations, Chikankari is now accessible, authentic, and modern, resonating with audiences of all ages.
Empowering Artisans and Celebrating Heritage
Initially focused on Chikankari, the brand now supports diverse crafts such as Kashmiri embroidery, Ikat, and hand-block printing. Through initiatives like HOC Crafts, House of Chikankari collaborates with artisans across India, ensuring their skills thrive and preserving India’s cultural heritage for future generations.
A Growing Family Rooted in Purpose
Four years on, House of Chikankari has grown into a thriving community of over 2 lakh supporters and a network of 10,000+ artisans. The brand’s 80+ team members remain united by a shared vision of empowering artisans and their communities.
Shark Tank and Accelerated Growth
In 2023, House of Chikankari gained national attention on Shark Tank India Season 2, securing a deal from Aman Gupta (boAt) and Peyush Bansal (Lenskart).
By 2025, the brand raised a seed round from prominent investors, including Peyush Bansal of Lenskart, Manoj Meena of Atomberg, Ankit Nagori of Curefoods, Hitesh Dhingra of The Man Company, Alluvium Capital, Tudip Ventures, and Aurinko Partners. The funds are being strategically utilized to expand marketing efforts, strengthen the team, and bring handcrafted Indian crafts to a global audience.
